Our Observations

Kendra- I saw the caterpillar go in the water. He moved really fast and it looked like there were three caterpillars in it.

Cameron- I saw the caterpillar move his back legs up and up and up.

Christian- It was moving really fast in the water.

Peter- I got to see the caterpillar wiggle in the water.

Jonathan- I observed a caterpillar moving starting from his back legs.

Alex- Our caterpillar looks like a worm in water.

John- I observed a caterpillar squiggling and squirming around.

Johannah- I saw the caterpillar swimming in the water.

Blaze- The caterpillar floated in the water.

Stephanie- I saw the caterpillar walk in the water.

Noah- We put the caterpillar in the water and it moved all over the place. Then it got out.

Monarchs in Space

We are so excited about being a part of the Monarchs in Space project. We are caring for 6 Monarch caterpillars. Thank you to Heather at Heckrodt for contacting us and funding our participation. On Monday, we watched the Space Shuttle Atlantis launch. The students made their first written observation yesterday and we took our first photos today.

Reading Rockets: For Parents

October News

Reading- We have been focusing on making predictions and beginning book reports.
Writing- We have been focusing on capitalization and punctuation. We have also learned about similes.
Math- We are wrapping up the first unit in our new math series, Math Expressions.
Spelling- Students continue to practice the words they have not learned on the second and third grade word lists.
Science- Our focus has been on life cycles.
Social Studies- We have started Junior Achievement. This program helps support our second grade curriculum.
